This is the Golden Buddha. It now resides at Wat Traimit in Bangkok. It is 3 meters high (9.8 ft.) and weighs 5.5 tonnes (12,125 lbs). And now the clincher -- it's made of solid gold!

At some point, probably in the mid-1700s, it was completely covered in stucco to hide its value. It remained incognito until May of 1955 - and then, while it was being moved to a new location it slipped off its pedestal and the stucco cracked -- revealing the world's largest solid-gold sculpture.
