One of the most recognizable faces on the planet Aung San Suu Kyi has rock star status both here and abroad. Her image decorates T-shirts, calendars, coffee mugs, kitchen magnets, shopping bags ... you name it. Quite different from just a few short years ago.

Under house arrest and harassed by the junta for decades she was released in 2010 and soon after was elected to the Burmese parliament. She was finally allowed to go abroad that year and stopped in Oslo to collect the Nobel Peace Prize - awarded her in 1991.

She is the head of the NLD (National League for Democracy) and hopes to run for president in 2015 - the year she turns 70. And though the Myanmar government has made many positive political changes in the past few years my guess is she'll still find an army of roadblocks ahead.
