We headed north to a secluded spot in the woods about 5 km out of Vientiane. This is the home of the Houey Hong Vocational Training Center for Women. We were the only two who showed up for the day-long course. The inset at the top right shows Joanna's work-in-progress.

Although it's only about the size of a postcard, and it's a relatively simple design compared to the other pieces we saw, it took quite a few concentrated hours to make. They served us a delicious grilled fish lunch as well - along with "sticky rice" which is the staple of the Lao diet. It's a specific kind of rice with a high gluten content so it all sticks together when cooked. Every meal in Laos includes sticky rice.
