Probably the most recognizable sculpture in the world, the Sphinx was carved out of the limestone bedrock of the Giza plateau around 2,500 BC. It faces east and stares directly at the rising sun during the equinoctials.

I am sorry to report that I could find no trace of the legendary Hall of Records, a maze said to exist below his paws and containing all essential knowledge of alchemy, astronomy, mathematics, magic and medicine.
