Imagine Times Square at midnight on December 31st. Now imagine the scene, but with hundreds of thousands of people on motorbikes, with the temperature in the 80s, and with a stunning display of fireworks overhead. That'll give you an inkling of what downtown Ho Chi Minh is like at Tet.

We watched the festivities from a French restaurant atop one of the city's riverside towers. It was hours before we found a taxi to take us home.
