From Champasak we headed south to Don Khone, one of the southernmost of the 4,000 islands. If you go any farther you're in Cambodia.

We stayed on the island 3 days. Every meal we had, including the duck curry at this place, was fantastic.

In the background is a railway bridge built by the French to try to consolidate their colonies - Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia - and make it easier for them to get all that teak out. It hasn't been used since WWII except for motorbikes and pedestrians going from Don Khone to the neighboring island of Don Det.
