Hey, wanna buy an island in the Venetian lagoon just a short hop from Piazza San Marco? The Italian Government has put Poveglia on the auction block. They're offering a 99 year lease.

And there is a very well organized group of Venetian residents who are trying to put together funds to outbid those who want to turn it into yet another luxury resort.
