Tour groups visit the Sultan's Palace, or Kratan, in Yogyakarta, every day. It's a city within a city and contains schools, markets, mosques and of course the palace itself, where a sultan still resides.

Indonesia is for the most part a Sunni Muslim country - 87%. But each island has its own mix. Bali is predominantly Hindu; Flores is Catholic; and Java is Muslim.
