We managed through friends to get the phone number of the man who runs the local AVIS office and we made a appointment for me to drop the car off. But he couldn't give me a ride home. Under current rules - that's just not allowed. Stiff fines apply.

So I walked the 8 km back home and saw nearly no one out and about. This is usually a busy intersection in Spoleto. I've had, as yet, no opportunity to say hello to any of my neighbors.

We are now under quarantine for 14 days. We cannot leave our house. Luckily we have many friends who are going to help us get food and other necessary supplies until we can.

As a finale to this odyssey, I'd advise everyone to stay home, this is no time to travel. And:

Be it ever so quarantined, There's no place like home.
