Cuenca is a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city. With a population of about 350,000 it's the third largest city in Ecuador. It sits in a valley in the Andes mountains along the Tomebamba River. It's about 2500 meters above sea level and it takes a few days to get used to that altitude. Throughout the entire year the temperature never varies much beyond the 14℃ and 18℃ range.
