One of our reasons for visiting Cuba now is to see it before big changes take place - before McDonalds and Starbucks arrive.

We walk through Havana Vieja (Old Havana) and see buildings that have already been restored right next to ruins where people are still living. We'll walk along pedestrian-only cobblestone streets with high-end shops and fancy restaurants but in the space of a few blocks we'll find ourselves in the middle of a slum.

New wealth is coming in faster and faster. How will this be distributed in coming years in this authoritarian socialist country? I've been asking this question to everyone I meet and no one has an answer - nor do I. But time will tell.
