The Ford Falcon Futura

The preferred automobile of the Argentine Army during the years of the National Reorganization Process, commonly known as "El Proceso", from 1976 to 1984, when thousands of men and women disappeared.

During this "dirty war", agents of the military government, under General Jorge Rafael Videla, would show up in a green Falcon, like this one, and collect people suspected of leftist leanings. They entered this car and were never heard from again.

Their whereabouts remains a mystery, but most are presumed dead. Just today, a former police chief, Mario Ferreyra, shot himself to death as police came to arrest him for crimes during that period. Some Argentines are still reluctant to talk politics openly.
